You are a poultry farmer but become vegan, where do you stand now?

In this documentary, renowned photographer and filmmaker Kadir van Lohuizen follows Ruud Zanders, a poultry farmer from Limburg, the Netherlands. After the bankruptcy of his large-scale poultry farms, Ruud reinvented himself by creating a more sustainable and animal-friendly poultry business: Kipster. This innovative concept has gained international attention and is now on the verge of global expansion.

But while the company continues to thrive, Ruud increasingly questions the foundations of animal farming. In his own life, he avoids meat, dairy, and eggs as much as possible. In this film, he sets out to answer the question: can our global food system exist without animals?

With a sharp and honest perspective, Kadir van Lohuizen captures Ruud’s inner conflict — the struggle between ideals and reality. Is creating the most animal-friendly and sustainable poultry farm enough? Or does it simply help maintain the existing system? The film also explores the perspectives of prominent voices such as activist George Monbiot and scientist Imke de Boer. Ultimately, the film leaves the viewer with a question: where do you stand?

Our restaurant De Gevestigde Orde opens from 18:00 and is located directly next to the auditorium. You are welcome to enjoy the daily menu, or order individual food and drinks. We kindly ask all visitors to arrive well in advance, especially if they plan to dine before the screening.

The film starts at 19:30 and has a duration of 50 minutes. The screening will be followed immediately by a Q&A with Ruud Zanders (approximately 50 minutes).
